STEP #1 -- STARTING TO PLANT YOUR POLE:

1st pot on the bottom should be 12 1/2" or larger (if the fins on your pot are welded right on the pvase plate, you need to buy the shorter, fatter pot. If the fins are 3-4" from the base plate, you can buy a standard pot.) The pot in this photo is the shorter, fatter one. The pot in the planted pole photo is a standard pot. Place the pole inside the largest put. Now you are ready to fill this pot up to the top of the fins with potting soil.

STEP #2

Make sure that all the posts you select have drain holes. Take your next post and slide it over the pole, letting the pole rest on the outside edge of the pot.Now make sure that the base of the second pot is cradled (or centered) over 2 of the three fins in the pot. This will stabilize the stand and prevent it from rocking. No go back and fill the base pot within 1" of the top and plant flowers, herbs, vegetables, etc. in your pot. Make sure your base pot is on a level surface! It might be advisable to build it where you want it!

Now you are ready to add the smaller pots. Carefully slide the smaller posts over the pole slanting them in opposite directions so the pole rides up along the inside surface of the pot. Water and enjoy! Be sure that all the plants you pick have the same light requirements
